Code Quiz: Article 370

Based on the 2014 NEC

Questions and answers written by Mark Lamendola, who has worked as a master electrician, electrical inspector, and design engineer. Since 1996, he has been writing National Electrical Code articles for electrical trade magazines and has an extensive portfolio of hundreds of NEC articles..

After a series of Articles on various raceways, from Article 350 to Article 362, the NEC jumps to Article 366. Then the normal sequence of raceway Articles resumes, bringing us to Article 366 (auxiliary gutters), which is followed by Article 368 (busways). Next, we come to Article 370 and it is about cablebus. This is a cross between cable tray [392] and busway [368], thus the interesting name "cablebus."

Here's an edited quote from http://www.cablebus.net:

A cablebus system consists of a fully enclosed and ventilated aluminum alloy (typically 6063 T6 aluminum) housing, and fully rated factory insulated power cables supported with non-magnetic support blocks. The blocks maintain individual cable spacing and provide short circuit bracing. Cablebus comes in custom lengths, with each housing section sized to fit the specific installation. You can also obtain cablebus fabricated from stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized steel.
